Charity is Love and Neighborhood Nip Does It Right
I can’t think of a more appropriate day to talk about the Neighborhood Nip Foundation other than today, on the birthday of Nipsey Hussle. The Neighborhood Nip Foundation is an organization that supports activities helping South LA youth reach their full potential. I attended a Back to School Giveaway in partnership with the Think Watts Foundation, who also is doing good things for the children in the community.
I volunteered at the Back to School Giveaway. It was so wonderful to be around the children. I was a schoolteacher, and I miss being around students. I was able to see children come and get ready for school, get school supplies, backpacks, paper, pencils, crayons, markers and more. My department was makeup. I had the pleasure of handing out makeup donated by NYX, in which I have a new favorite shade of lipstick called Harmony.
It was a very wonderful event. There were smiles on the children’s faces, smiles on the parents’ faces, smiles on my face, and the volunteers’ faces. The children were blessed to have lunch from Marathon Burger. The truck pulled up on Slauson and Crenshaw, and served burgers, fries and drinks. Everything about the event was a success, and I was happy to be a part of it.
This is love for the city of Los Angeles. This is love for the children, the families and the people. This event was for the neighborhood, just all around love. I love giving. I love charity, people giving from their heart and their finances of what they have been given on earth to share with others. Love is the greatest gift of all. Did you know charity is synonymous with love?
While volunteering, I met a woman, Rashia, who I shared my vision with to spread love in Los Angeles. I talked to her about Love Again LA and asked what she thought about spreading love in the city? And she said, ‘you know, love is universal.’ Everyone needs love. She really was saying go for it. We all need love. It’s universal. And it’s God. God is love. I pray that I’m able to do my part in spreading love in the city of Los Angeles and around the world, and I hope you join me.
